چکیده

Cucurbit[6]uril was dissolved through encapsulation of an imidazolium-based ionic liquid guest in a pure water environment and the dissolution ability could be tuned by augmenting the imidazolium structure.

Aniline-containing guests recognized by α,α’,δ,δ’-tetramethyl-cucurbit[6]uril host

The host-guest complexation of symmetrical α,α',δ,δ'-tetramethyl-cucurbit[6]uril (TMeQ[6]) and cucurbit[7]uril (Q[7]) with a series of aniline-containing guests has been investigated by various experimental techniques including NMR, ITC, and X-ray crystallography. Experimental results indicate that both TMeQ[6] and Q[7] hosts can encapsulate aniline-containing guests to form stable inclusion co...

A Method for Synthesizing Partially Substituted Cucurbit[n]uril

A novel approach to cucurbituril synthesis is described where partial substitution is introduced into cucurbit[n]uril. The identification of homologues (and their substitution) in reaction mixtures is achieved by a combination of ESMS and the use of the molecular probes (guests) 1,4dioxane and 1,9-octanediamine. A unique symmetrical hexamethylcucurbit[3,3]uril, the major product, was isolated a...

Bridging Calorimetry and Simulation through Precise Calculations of Cucurbituril–Guest Binding Enthalpies

We used microsecond time scale molecular dynamics simulations to compute, at high precision, binding enthalpies for cucurbit[7]uril (CB7) with eight guests in aqueous solution. The results correlate well with experimental data from previously published isothermal titration calorimetry studies, and decomposition of the computed binding enthalpies by interaction type provides plausible mechanisti...

Cucurbit[8]uril rotaxanes.

The synthesis of [2]rotaxanes, each comprising a viologen core threaded through a cucurbit[8]uril (Q8, Figure 1) macrocycle and stoppered by tetraphenylmethane groups, and their binding to second guests as inclusion complexes in organic and aqueous media are described. Stoppering was observed to have little effect on binding. Chemical modification of the threaded guest was used to control solub...

Control of the stoichiometry in host-guest complexation by redox chemistry of guests: inclusion of methylviologen in cucurbit[8]uril.

The binding stoichiometry of a host-guest complex can be effectively controlled by the redox chemistry of the guest: a 1:1 inclusion complex of methylviologen dication (MV2+) in cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8]) converts completely and reversibly to a 2:1 inclusion complex of cation radical (MV+.) in CB[8] upon the reduction of the guest.
